Facial vs. Chemical Peel: What’s the Difference?
Your face would like some attention. The question is what kind.
Facial? Chemical peel?
Something called a Green Sea Peel that sounds vaguely like you might emerge as a mermaid? We get it.
Professional skincare has its own vocabulary, and you shouldn't need an esthetics license just to book an appointment.
So let's start with the basics.
What does a facial do?
A professional facial can combine several types of skincare into one customized treatment.
Depending on your skin and the facial you choose, that may include cleansing, exfoliation, masks, hydration, massage, and professional skincare products.
At The Spot, the goal isn't to put everyone through exactly the same routine.
We start with your skin.
What is a chemical peel?
A chemical peel uses a professional exfoliating solution to remove or loosen surface skin cells in a controlled way.
Different peels use different ingredients and strengths, which means “chemical peel” isn't really one single treatment.
And despite the dramatic name, choosing a peel isn't a contest to see who can use the strongest thing possible.
So which is better?
Neither.
That's like asking whether a screwdriver or a hammer is better.
What are we trying to do?
A customized facial may make perfect sense when your skin needs hydration, maintenance, gentle exfoliation, or simply some professional attention.
A peel may be considered when you're looking for a more targeted form of exfoliation or resurfacing.
The right choice depends on your skin, your goals, your home routine, and other factors.
Does a chemical peel mean my whole face will peel off?
Not necessarily.
The amount of visible exfoliation varies depending on the type of peel and your individual skin response.
We'll explain what to expect from the specific treatment you're receiving and how to care for your skin afterward.
This is also why copying somebody else's peel because their skin looked fabulous afterward isn't necessarily a great plan.
Their face is not your face.
Is stronger better?
No. Say it with us:
More aggressive does not automatically mean more effective.
Professional skincare should be thoughtful.
The goal isn't to make your skin endure the most intense treatment possible. The goal is to choose an appropriate treatment for what you're actually trying to accomplish.
What if I still don't know which one I need?
Excellent. That means you don't have to guess.
If you're new to professional skincare, The Spot Signature Facial can be a great starting point.

FACIAL OR PEEL?

We'll look at your skin, talk about your goals, and help you decide what makes sense.
No guessing. No pressure. No volunteering your face for something just because TikTok said so.
